This is an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef who wants to work at a medium sized restaurant with an enviable reputation and is part of the fabric of Southampton.
Responsibilities of the Head Chef
* Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient and smooth daily operations
* Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain high standards of quality and presentation
* Develop innovative menus in collaboration with management, considering current trends and customer preferences
* Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and hygiene standards
* Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
* Train and mentor staff to enhance their culinary skills and service delivery
* Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service during busy periods
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment at all times
* Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with recipes and quality standards
Skills required in the position of Head Chef
* Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
* Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food production and preparation
* Excellent team management abilities, capable of motivating staff and fostering teamwork
* Proficient in cooking techniques across various cuisines and styles
* Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
* Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is highly desirable
* Leadership qualities with the ability to organise, delegate, and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously
* Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with staff and management
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
