Head Mechanic

Job Summary

The Head Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all airport vehicles and supporting airport systems, including mechanical and maintenance activities. This role plays a vital part in maintaining aviation standards and ensuring high safety and performance levels.

Duties & Responsibilities                   

• Develop and implement a strategic maintenance plan to optimize performance and reliability of airport vehicles and equipment.


• Collaborate with airport management to align technical operations with overall strategic goals.


• Conduct and oversee all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on airport vehicles and equipment.


• Ensure all work is and performed in accordance with technical specifications and safety regulations.


• Maintain updated maintenance records and inventory systems.


• Support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

• Associates degree in automotive technology/mechanical systems or equivalent technical certification from an accredited field is preferred.


• Certification or diploma in vehicle fleet management or mechanical maintenance and practical application of engineering principles preferred.


• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably within the aviation or transportation industry.


• Strong demonstrated proficiency in mechanical maintenance.


• Strong understanding of mechanical systems in vehicles and airport equipment.


• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.


• Proven ability to manage maintenance programs and prioritize tasks effectively.


• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.


• High attention to detail and analytical skills.


• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects, etc.).
