About the Role

As Head of Applied Science, you will lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality BTEC Science courses. You will be responsible for curriculum leadership, staff development, and ensuring outstanding outcomes for students across Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Applied Science department.
• Lead the planning, delivery, and assessment of BTEC Science courses.
• Support and develop teaching staff to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
• Monitor student progress and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives and leadership.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Substantial experience teaching BTEC Science.
• Proven leadership or middle management experience within a science department.
• Strong understanding of vocational education and assessment.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

• Experience in curriculum development and quality assurance for BTEC qualifications.
• A track record of raising achievement and innovation in science education.
