Head of Careers

Are you passionate about shaping the future of careers education and guidance? We're working with a fantastic college in the West Midlands who are looking for an experienced Careers professional to lead and manage the development of their Careers service!

In this pivotal role, you will oversee the strategic delivery of high-impact Careers Advice and Guidance services, driving student engagement, retention, and progression. You will work closely with curriculum teams to design and implement a robust, college-wide educational framework for careers, aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks. As Careers Lead, you will play a central role in ensuring students are informed, inspired, and prepared for their futures.

Key Responsibilities for our Head of Careers:

• Strategic Leadership & Compliance: Lead the development and implementation of a student-focused Careers Education strategy aligned with legal requirements and the Gatsby Benchmarks, while managing resources, reporting to senior leaders, and driving continuous improvement.
• Service Delivery & Student Support: Oversee the Careers Advice and Guidance team to ensure high-quality, impartial services tailored to diverse student needs, including targeted support for vulnerable groups and at-risk learners in collaboration with internal support teams.
• Partnerships, Evaluation & Engagement: Build strong external partnerships, monitor delivery against key benchmarks, promote digital engagement, and provide detailed reports and KPI analysis to inform strategic planning and quality assurance.

To become our next Head of Careers you will need:

• Proven Leadership: Extensive experience leading careers education and advice services, with a track record of achieving outcomes and developing high-performing teams.
• Strategic Delivery: Skilled in implementing high-quality careers education across varied curriculum areas and campuses, aligned with relevant quality frameworks.
• Expert Knowledge: Deep understanding of careers information sources and the ability to design effective, evidence-based career learning programmes.
