Salary: £75,696 - £81,207 per annum

The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Head of Compliance & Building Safety to lead the strategic and operational management of compliance and building safety services across a residential housing portfolio.
This senior leadership role will provide oversight of all statutory compliance activities, building safety programmes, governance arrangements, contractor performance, and regulatory assurance. You will be responsible for ensuring resident safety remains at the centre of service delivery while driving continuous improvement, strong risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Working closely with senior leadership, residents, contractors and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in shaping compliance strategy, managing organisational risk, and ensuring robust processes and reporting frameworks are in place.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Compliance & Building Safety function, ensuring services are compliant, resident-focused and aligned with organisational priorities.
* Oversee all statutory compliance areas including fire safety, gas, electrical, asbestos, water hygiene and lift safety.
* Lead building safety activities across higher-risk and complex residential buildings, ensuring risks are identified, monitored and appropriately managed.
* Develop and maintain assurance, governance and performance reporting frameworks, including reporting to senior leadership and Boards.
* Manage compliance and building safety contractors, consultants and service providers, driving performance, quality and value for money.
* Ensure compliance data, systems and reporting are accurate, auditable and support effective decision-making.
* Lead responses to audits, inspections, regulatory reviews and major compliance or safety incidents.
* Build strong relationships with residents and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and engagement around safety and compliance matters.
About You:
* You will have substantial experience leading compliance, building safety or property services functions within housing or a similar regulated environment.
* You will possess a strong understanding of compliance management, building safety legislation, governance requirements and risk management frameworks, together with proven experience managing teams, contractors and complex service delivery programmes.
* You will be a confident communicator, capable of presenting technical information to a range of audiences, including senior leaders, Boards, residents and regulatory bodies, while maintaining a strong focus on service improvement and resident safety.
Qualifications:
* A degree, Level 5 qualification, or equivalent experience in Building Safety, Fire Safety, Construction, Housing, Asset Management, Property Management or a related discipline.
* A recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
* Additional qualifications or training in Building Safety, Fire Safety, Passive Fire Protection, Fire Risk Assessment, Compartmentation, or High-Rise Residential Building Safety would be highly advantageous.
* Professional membership of organisations such as CIOB, CIH, IFE or IFSM is desirable.
