Head of Credit Control

A leading food manufacturer supplying major retail, foodservice and wholesale customers is seeking an experienced Head of Credit Control to lead and develop its credit function.

This is a highly visible leadership role, responsible for maximising cash collection, reducing bad debt exposure and supporting profitable growth. Working closely with Sales, Operations and Customer Service, you will build strong customer relationships while driving a culture of commercial credit management and exceptional service.

The Role

* Lead and develop the credit control team to deliver cash collection and debtor day targets.

* Implement effective credit management strategies that support growth while managing risk.

* Monitor customer credit limits and payment performance, taking proactive action where required.

* Manage aged debt, escalations and legal recovery processes where appropriate.

* Produce regular performance reporting and analysis for senior management.

* Build strong relationships with key customers and act as the senior point of contact for credit-related matters.

* Work closely with commercial teams to support customer growth and retention.

* Drive process improvements and promote best practice across the function.

* Ensure compliance with financial controls and company policies.

About You

* Proven experience leading a credit control or accounts receivable function.

* Strong background in B2B credit management within a fast-paced environment.

* Excellent customer relationship and negotiation skills.

* Commercially minded with the ability to balance risk and customer service.

* Experience developing and managing teams.

* Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and reporting capabilities.

* Comfortable influencing stakeholders across Finance, Sales and Operations.

* Experience within food manufacturing, foodservice, FMCG or distribution would be highly advantageous.
