About My Client:
A well-established, client-driven law firm located in Greater Manchester, with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality legal services across Greater Manchester and beyond. As part of continued growth, my client is seeking a committed and experienced Head of Family Law to lead the family department, with a particular focus on private law matters.
The Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior family solicitor to step into a leadership position while continuing to manage a purely private law caseload. Your work will include high-value and complex matters such as divorce and separation, financial remedy cases, private children law disputes, pre-nuptial agreements, and cohabitation issues. You'll also be responsible for shaping the future of the department and leading a small, capable team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Family Law department, overseeing team performance and growth
Manage a full, self-sustained caseload of private family law matters from instruction to resolution
Maintain and enhance client relationships through excellent legal advice and service
Support business development and contribute to the department's strategic direction
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and uphold firm-wide quality standards
Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with a minimum of 8 years' PQE in Family Law
Demonstrable experience handling a private family law caseload independently
Strong leadership or supervisory experience in a legal setting
Excellent communication, client care, and organisational skills
Commercial awareness and a proactive, hands-on approach to department growth
