Join a leading educational institution as the Interim Head of Central Accounting. This role is essential for overseeing the strategic development and operational management of the university's financial systems. You will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial data, playing a key role in shaping the financial landscape of the university.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead the strategic development of the financial systems, including enhancements to the Chart of Accounts and ongoing integrity maintenance.
• Configure and manage financial systems and databases, ensuring accurate data governance.
• Oversee daily financial operations, ensuring all financial reports and accounts are reconciled and adhere to accounting policies.
• Manage period-end processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reconciliations.
• Integrate financial system feeds with reporting systems for both statutory and management reporting.
• Develop and maintain a control framework over financial reporting, aligning with global standards and regulations.
• Lead the annual external audit process and develop related training and communication strategies.
• Develop and manage a new financial assurance framework for research activities, aligning with current regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in financial management and accounting within large, complex organizations.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., FRS 102, Sarbanes-Oxley).
• Proven ability to develop and implement robust financial systems and processes.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in strategic planning and team management.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively leading and mentoring a team.
