This is a great business, established over 100 years ago and now transitioning into its 4th generation of family management.

With 62 stores, close to 800 staff and their own fleet of vehicles delivering their freshly produced products each morning, if you live in the region the chances are you have tried one of their many products - and if you haven't, this post should be the nudge you need!

This is a company that has skillfully navigated the many challenges facing the industry over the last 2 years - and now has a clear strategy of continuous improvement and growth. New stores are on the horizon, the company has embraced the new way of selling via Uber Eats and multiple in-house projects to improve efficiencies across the business are under way.

We are searching for a talented and personable Head of Finance to collaborate with the SLT and play a key part in the next phase of the journey. The role will require the person to gain a deep understanding of the business and become a key decision maker in the Birds leadership team. You will have full autonomy of the finance function, reporting directly into the MDs - and lead several key continuous improvement projects.

I am looking to speak to Qualified finance leaders with excellent leadership skills, tight financial controls and sound commercial judgement so they can be a key Business Partner. A background in multi-site retail, FMCG or manufacturing would be advantageous - and understanding of group style businesses may help.

Mainly, we are looking for someone who wants to embrace being part of a successful family led business. Someone who will take pride in being a 'Bird' and has the personality to lead with empathy, be a thoughtful and collaborative business partner and also show a good sense of humour!

A strong overall package is on offer. The role would suit someone on their way up the career ladder - or alternatively someone more experienced looking for a more Controller style role.
