Job Opportunity: Head of Group Finance

Location: Milton Keynes (Office based)

Reports To: Group CEO

Salary: £80k + Bonus + Bens

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Group Finance to join a successful and growing logistics business. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the leadership team and take ownership of the businesses financial strategy, performance, and compliance across all group companies.

This is a high-profile role, responsible not only for financial reporting and cash management but also for helping shape the company's long-term strategy, drive growth, and improve operational performance. You’ll be a trusted advisor to the Board and play a pivotal role in acquisitions, investment decisions, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Analysis

• Lead group-wide financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis.
• Deliver actionable insights to support decision-making and business growth.
• Analyse financial performance, identify risks/opportunities, and guide direction.

Reporting & Compliance

• Produce timely and accurate monthly, weekly, and daily financial reports.
• Prepare statutory accounts and liaise with auditors to ensure full compliance.
• Ensure all reporting aligns with financial regulations and governance standards.

Budget & Cost Control

• Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against targets.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency initiatives.
• Oversee robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Cash Flow & Corporate Finance

• Manage group cash flow and invoice financing systems.
• Optimise working capital and maintain strong banking relationships.
• Drive funding strategies, grants, and government engagement.

Growth & Acquisitions

• Support strategic growth through M&A, including due diligence and integration.
• Evaluate financial returns and report on acquisition performance.
• Build robust financial models to support investment decisions.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team.
• Drive a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Manage recruitment, onboarding, and performance within the department.

Technology & Automation

• Champion system automation to enhance reporting and accuracy.
• Ensure secure, reliable financial data and tools for informed decision-making.

What We’re Looking For:

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent, with proven post-qualification experience.
• Strong leadership and strategic thinking with hands-on financial expertise.
• Experience in managing multi-entity financial operations.
• Proven ability to influence board-level decision-making.
• Commercial acumen with a track record of driving profitability and growth.
• Proficiency in financial systems, automation tools, and data analysis.
