The Role
Opportunity: Head of General Ledger
Location: Blyth (hybrid working)
Type: Full-time, Temporary (3–4 months)
Salary: Competitive
Start Date: ASAP

A large international group is seeking an experienced and fully qualified Accountant to join its UK-based finance team on a temporary basis (3–4 months). This appointment will support critical finance operations, with potential for further opportunities within the wider organisation.
This role is instrumental in ensuring robust financial reporting, local compliance with accounting and tax regulations, and strong leadership of the general ledger function.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee monthly reporting to the parent company, ensuring accuracy and timely submission in line with group policies.
Ensure adherence and rollout of any new external accounting or tax standards.
Manage and develop the general ledger team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Act as SAP FI key user for general ledger functionality and improvements.
Lead the annual audit process and the preparation of statutory accounts.
Ensure the integrity of balance sheet reconciliations, including fixed assets, expenses, and payroll accounts.
Oversee all external financial reporting, including VAT, CIS, Intrastat, and government statistical returns.
Provide operational and developmental support to team members.

About You
We are looking to discuss this opportunity with candidates with the following skillset:

Experience of external reporting - VAT, CIS, Intrastat
Ideally experience using SAP
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and lead staff
Fully qualified accountant with strong technical knowledge and ability
