Summary

Responsibilities

• Develop, prepare, and serve meals for students and staff.
  


• Oversee and direct the daily functions of the school kitchen.
  


• Lead and support the catering team effectively.
  


• Ensure meals meet high standards of quality and presentation.
  


• Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation.
  


• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and safeguarding protocols.
  


• Manage inventory levels and coordinate ordering as necessary.
  


• Oversee food storage and stock rotation practices.
  


• Keep precise records related to food safety and kitchen operations.
  


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
  


• Optimize kitchen resources and minimize food waste.
  


• Enhance the dining experience for students and staff.
  

Essential

• Proven experience in a supervisory catering role.
  


• Valid Food Safety Certificate.
  


• Enhanced DBS Check.
  


• Capability to lead and inspire a small catering team.
  


• Experience in high-volume meal preparation.
  


• Comprehensive knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
  


• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  


• Ability to work autonomously and exercise initiative.
  


• Dedication to high standards of food quality and customer service.
  


• Dependable, adaptable, and professional demeanor.
  

Desirable

• Experience in a school, educational, or Local Authority catering setting.
  


• Relevant qualifications in catering or professional cookery.
  


• Familiarity with school food standards and nutritional guidelines.
