Head of Management Accounts

Marc Daniels are working with a growing and highly successful organisation who are looking to recruit an experienced Head of Management Accounts to lead their management accounting function. This is a highly visible leadership role, responsible for delivering accurate and insightful financial reporting, leading a sizeable team, and driving continuous improvement across management accounting processes and controls.

Responsibilities

Lead, develop and mentor the Management Accounts team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Take ownership of the monthly management accounts process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities in partnership with senior stakeholders.
Provide insightful analysis and commentary on financial performance, highlighting key variances, risks and opportunities.
Ensure robust balance sheet controls and reconciliations are maintained across the finance function.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting quality, efficiency and control.
Lead and optimise the month-end close process, reducing timelines and improving output quality.
Partner with operational and commercial teams to support strategic decision-making.
Develop and enhance financial reporting packs for Executive and Board-level stakeholders.
Support year-end statutory accounts preparation and external audit requirements.
Ensure adherence to accounting standards, financial controls and governance frameworks.
Lead finance transformation projects, including process improvements, system enhancements and automation initiatives.
Establish KPIs and performance measures for the management accounting team.

Essential Experience

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Proven experience leading a Management Accounts function within a medium or large-scale organisation.
Strong people management experience, with a track record of developing and managing high-performing teams.
Extensive experience delivering monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting processes.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls.
Demonstrable experience driving process improvements and finance transformation initiatives.
Experience leading and optimising month-end close activities.
Advanced stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
