Head of Marketing – Rare Restaurants – Gaucho and M

As Rare Restaurants – the overarching brand for Gaucho and M – celebrates its 30th anniversary, the brand is looking for a skilled and dynamic Head of Marketing to help spearhead success into its next phase of growth. Rare has just been named in the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 Places to Work list and is embarking on a campaign to extend an experience of 100% Hospitality through its teams, guests and at every contact point with the brand.

Reporting into the Group Marketing Director, the role will lead the marketing activity across the 22-restaurant estate, managing a team of marketers and designers, assisted by a digital marketing department, social media manager and in-house PR to deliver best-in-class marketing collateral and activation's.

We are looking for an experienced and organised marketer and manager, familiar with working in the fast-paced world of F&B to become the brand guardian of one of the UK restaurant scene’s strongest marques. They will lead with ideas for launching new restaurants, ensure the existing stable’s campaigns are contemporary and fresh, while promoting the brand legacy and values at every turn.

The role suits a candidate with previous head of department experience, or someone looking to make the step up from a senior marketing position. Hospitality experience, familiarity with luxury brands and proven track record of motivating and mentoring teams to deliver excellent results in a positive environment are essential.

Rare Restaurants has plans for steady growth and restaurant openings in the coming months and years. The successful candidate will be a core part of this development team and will be integral in developing the strategy to ensure maximum diner footfall across the group’s UK-wide restaurant estate.

Role Description

The Head of Marketing at Rare is responsible for all restaurant collateral, including signage, in-restaurant marketing material, menus and digital assets, ensuring they are on brand, enticing and delivered to sites on time. Regular reporting is required to ensure targets are met and brand goals are delivered.

A steady stream of excellent ideas will be required to ensure the brand is front of mind for diners, encouraging them to explore a variety of day parts across the Rare estate. The key outcomes are including, but not limited to:

- Managing restaurant and group events and activation's across the estate
- Managing out-of-restaurant marketing and collateral for events and pop-ups
- Structuring campaigns and bounce back distribution to bring in new diners and retain loyal guests
- Ensuring that social media targets are achieved and reinforce brand pillars
- Assisting the PR department in hitting PR targets and driving coverage
- Owning marketing collateral curation and sign off to support all campaigns and messages
- Ensuring menu updates and roll-outs are completed in line with schedule
- Working where required with Group Marketing Director and C-Suite in designing brand DNA
- Assisting with the management of Digital Marketing team to ensure SEO and CRM targets are delivered
- Ensuring success in all restaurant, group and brand initiatives and activation's is achieved
- Ensuring that department performs and delivers within given budgets
- Assisting the Group Marketing Director with empirical reporting on a departmental level
- Contributing to the overall marketing strategy for the year ahead
- Creating and producing all marketing material in line with marketing plans, both digital and print

Key Requirements:
In house Hospitality marketing experience, at least 5 years in Hospitality industry, multi-site familiarity, organised, used to working at fast pace
Team management experience, doing team 1-2-1’s and ensuring team deliver on KPIs

Working week: Usually 3 days in Head office in Bank, London, one day in a restaurant, one day from home – availability (and desire!) to work out of hours at events and some weekends is a must. Availability to travel around the UK with some overnight stays

Start date: We are ideally looking for someone to start the beginning of August. Therefore, due to the timelines, unfortunately we cannot entertain candidates with a notice period of over 8 weeks.

Essential Skills and Experience
• Well presented at all times, organised and efficient with work and able to prioritise accordingly
• Proficient in Microsoft office programs, website management, social media and graphic design.
• Able to converse with a wide range of team members at every level
• Organised and efficient, able to support the creative vision of brand marketing ideas.
• Confidently promote our brand, both internally and externally
• Strong experience in marketing
• Excellent presentation skills
