Head of Production

Chase & Holland are delighted to have been retained by a global manufacturing business in Rotherham in order to find a Head of Production. The business is renowned as a leader in it's field and admired for it automated manufacturing process which allow it to sit at the peak of the industry.

As Head of Production you will ensure the manufacturing process runs reliably and efficiently to standard operating procedures and to the production plan. You will be responsible for controlling process steps to make sure products are delivered on time, within budget. You will also be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment and promote a safe culture. The right candidate will seek continuous improvement throughout the class leading manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage a team of circa 120 via 8 direct reports with a hands-on approach and with knowledge of what is happening at all times
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product development, operations, finance, and other departments to drive best in class and continuous improvement
• Identify and seek new opportunities to improve and streamline processes, as well as continuously looking to maximise the productivity and use of the factory facility
• Ensure a safe working environment and promote a safe culture, whilst supporting the team with any safety concerns
• To effectively manage resources in line with the production plan to deliver product on time and in full to the desired cost and quality even when the plan can change daily
• Escalate where needed to the MD with a recommend course of action
• Ensure KPI compliance, manage underperforming areas and deliver on RFT target
• Lead and support a continuous improvement culture
• Stay abreast of industry developments, regulatory requirements, and best practices in manufacturing and management to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge
• Monitor and update risk assessments and training manuals
• Manage employee relations and team engagement as well as manage and control cost
• Maintain a flexible approach to working hours and department support as needed

Role requirements include:

• Strong experience in factory leadership roles within a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, influence stakeholders, and drive results.
• Hands on manager, with the capacity to analysis and problem-solve, attention to detail, and a results-oriented mindset
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritise competing demands, and adapt to changing circumstances and demonstrate a high level of organisation
• Have knowledge of health and safety procedures and practices in all areas with a proven track record of operating to high standards. An understanding of Quality, Environment and Health and Safety Management Systems
• Provide support, direction via training, guidance and leadership, to ensure that the company’s core values are maintained and delivered
• Understands how the internal and external organisation interacts with the environment. Is aware of the different stakeholders and interests
• Lean knowledge / qualifications such as yellow/green belt (desirable)
