Head of Projects

Elevation Recruitment Group are recruiting on behalf of a globally recognised engineering and manufacturing business in Sheffield to appoint a Head of Projects to lead major capital investment programmes across their operation.

This is a high-profile role, sitting as part of the senior leadership team and responsible for delivering complex, business-critical projects across heavy engineering and manufacturing environments.

The client will consider both permanent and interim/consultant applicants, depending on experience and availability.

You’ll take full accountability for planning, execution, and delivery of a multi-year capex pipeline, leading a team of project managers and engineers to ensure safety, quality, and commercial targets are met.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of large-scale capital projects (£10m+), from concept through to completion
• Develop and maintain robust project plans, budgets, and risk registers
• Engage with internal stakeholders, group-level leadership, and external partners to ensure alignment and delivery
• Provide leadership and oversight to the internal project team and supply chain
• Ensure projects meet all HSE, quality, and regulatory standards
• Drive continuous improvement in project governance and execution
• Report regularly on progress, risks, and performance to the board

What you'll need:

• Proven experience delivering high-value capital projects in heavy manufacturing
• A degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Formal project management qualifications (e.g. Prince2, APM, PMP)
• Strong leadership capability with the confidence to engage at all levels
• A commercial and strategic mindset, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving setting with a hands-on approach
