Head of Underwriting Management

Arthur is partnered with a specialist insurance company who is hiring a Head of Underwriting Management.

This role supports group-wide underwriting governance and portfolio oversight, working with the Underwriting Portfolio Director to drive strategic decisions and ensure compliance across underwriting and outwards reinsurance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead underwriting oversight activities, including committee reporting, binder governance, underwriting authority management, and coverholder audit processes.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting principles, delegated authority, outsourcing arrangements, and internal governance frameworks, including documentation, risk controls, and SOPs.
• Support underwriting strategy by aligning partner plans with the businesses risk appetite, assisting onboarding, and coordinating with internal teams for operational delivery.
• Collaborate across functions on service management, audit responses, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the company’s cultural, strategic, and operational development.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and analytical, with solid experience in governance, control, and underwriting oversight. They will have a strong understanding of underwriting frameworks, delegated authorities, and reinsurance operations, ideally within a regulated SEC reporting environment.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, communicate with senior stakeholders, and work cross-functionally is essential.
