Lead and inspire a year group in our outstanding Barking school! Preference for candidates with a background in core subjects.

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated teacher, ideally with a background in English, Maths, or Science, to join our pastoral team as a Head of Year. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the academic progress, well-being, and personal development of our students within our supportive and high-achieving school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide outstanding pastoral care and guidance to a designated year group.


• Monitor and support the academic progress of students, working closely with subject teachers.


• Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and engagement.


• Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies.


• Lead a team of form tutors to ensure consistent support for students.


• Contribute to the wider pastoral provision and ethos of the school.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.


• Proven experience of effective teaching at secondary level, ideally in a core subject (English, Maths, Science).


• Strong pastoral skills and a genuine commitment to student well-being.


• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.


• Ability to lead and motivate a team of form tutors.
