Health And Safety Advisor

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to help drive a positive safety culture across a manufacturing operation in the Swindon area.
The primary role of the Health & Safety Advisor is to advise the Senior Management Team on safety issues to ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and the safeguarding of employees.
Working with the small team you will be integral in establishing a positive Health & Safety culture.
About the Health & Safety Advisor Role:
* Working hours are Monday – Thursday, 7.30am-5pm & Friday 7.30am-2pm (there is potential for flexibility on hours)
* Salary £40-£50K per annum dependant on experience

Main responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
* Develop, review and maintain risk assessments, COSHH assessments, PUWER assessments and safe systems of work.
* Conduct routine site audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for improvement
* Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines
* Manage Permits to Work / Method Statements for contractors
* Inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions
* Lead and support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and driving preventative actions.
* Organise and deliver targeted EHS Training, including inductions, accident prevention training and behavioural safety initiatives
* Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is suitable, available and effectively managed.
* Managing emergency procedures (such as fire alarm drills) and organising emergency teams such as fire marshals and first aiders.
Skills & Attributes required:
* Proven experience within a similar role
* Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and ISO 45001
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Health & Safety Qualification
* Certified in COSHH
* Ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
