Job Description - Health & Safety Advisor – Civil Engineering
Health & Safety Advisor – Civil Engineering
Location: Wembley, London HA9 Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Our client is a growing civil engineering contractor operating across London and the surrounding areas. Due to continued project growth, they are looking to recruit an intermediate-level Health & Safety Advisor to support site teams and help maintain high safety standards across a range of civil engineering projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional who has gained some industry experience and is looking to take the next step within a busy, hands-on civil engineering environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, site managers, supervisors and operatives to ensure health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented effectively across live construction sites.
Duties will include carrying out regular site inspections and audits, identifying hazards and potential risks, preparing reports and supporting corrective actions. You will assist with the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, permits and site safety documentation.
You will also support toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings, investigate near misses and incidents where required, monitor compliance with company procedures, and help ensure all projects meet current health and safety legislation.
The role will involve visiting sites across London, so a practical approach, strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with site-based teams are essential.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a Health & Safety role in construction, civil engineering, utilities, groundworks, highways or a related sector.
You should have a good understanding of construction health and safety legislation, risk assessments, method statements and site compliance requirements. A NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, IOSH qualification or similar would be highly desirable.
You will need to be organised, confident, approachable and able to build positive working relationships with people at all levels. A full UK driving licence would be beneficial due to travel between project sites.
In return, the company offers a salary between £30,000 and £45,000 depending on experience, a permanent role within a growing civil engineering contractor, exposure to varied London-based projects and genuine opportunities for career development.
