Its clients include NHS organisations, Brighton & Hove Council, East Sussex County Council, Eastbourne Borough Council and social housing providers, with additional contracts extending into Kent.
The business operates across commercial, public-sector and other client environments and has developed a strong portfolio of long-standing term contracts.
Why Join Them
This Health & Safety Advisor - Electrical Contractor position offers genuine influence over how Health & Safety is managed across an established business. Rather than focusing on a single project, you will have visibility across the company's wider operations and the opportunity to work directly with Directors on strategy, compliance and continuous improvement.
The role also provides scope to develop the company's training, audit and safety processes while working closely with site teams, employees, subcontractors and clients.
About the Role
The Health & Safety Advisor – Electrical Contractor will take a hands-on approach to maintaining and improving Health & Safety standards across the business. You will provide practical advice to Directors and managers, deliver training, undertake site inspections and audits, and ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place.
Key responsibilities will include:
*
Develop, implement and review Health & Safety policies, procedures, risk assessments and RAMS.
*
Advise Directors and managers on Health & Safety risks, legislation and practical improvements.
*
Deliver Health & Safety training and toolbox talks to employees, supervisors and subcontractors.
*
Conduct regular site audits and inspections, identifying hazards, non-conformances and corrective actions.
*
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis and lessons learned.
*
Monitor subcontractor competence, RAMS and Health & Safety performance.
*
Maintain Health & Safety records, statistics, training matrices and management information.
*
Support accreditation requirements, tender submissions, client audits and ongoing compliance.
Candidate Background
To be successful as a Health & Safety Advisor - Electrical Contractor, you will need proven Health & Safety experience ideally within electrical contracting, building services, construction or a closely related environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
*
NEBOSH General Certificate – essential.
*
IOSH membership at TechIOSH/GradIOSH level or above.
*
Practical experience of site audits, inspections and Health & Safety reporting.
*
Experience delivering training to employees and subcontractors.
*
Good knowledge of CDM, safe systems of work and construction/electrical risk management.
*
Electrical industry knowledge or qualifications would be highly desirable.
*
Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between sites.
You will need to be confident dealing with everyone from site operatives through to Directors, with a practical and approachable style that encourages good Health & Safety standards rather than simply policing compliance.
Summary
This is a broad Health & Safety Advisor - Electrical Contractor position offering responsibility across an established contractor, with direct access to the Directors and the opportunity to influence Health & Safety strategy across the wider business.
It would suit a practical Health & Safety professional who enjoys being visible across the operation and working closely with both management and site-based teams.
