We are working with an established plant hire business that is looking to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor to support the business across its operations.

This is a varied, practical role that will involve maintaining and improving Health & Safety systems, ensuring the business remains compliant, and working closely with engineers, depot teams, customers and site-based personnel.

The ideal candidate will have experience within plant hire, construction, aggregates, civil engineering or a similar environment, and will be comfortable operating in a practical, operational setting.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and regularly update the company's Health & Safety systems, policies and procedures.
Ensure the business remains compliant with relevant Health & Safety legislation, regulations and industry standards.
Carry out site and depot inspections, identifying risks and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
Work closely with engineers and operational teams to provide practical Health & Safety advice.
Liaise with clients and customers regarding Health & Safety requirements and compliance.
Support the safe operation, maintenance and use of mobile plant and equipment.
Review and update risk assessments, method statements and other Health & Safety documentation.
Monitor Health & Safety performance and maintain accurate records and reporting systems.
Assist with incident and accident investigations, identifying corrective and preventative actions.
Support audits and ensure any actions arising are followed through to completion.
Provide Health & Safety guidance and support to employees across the business.
Help promote a strong and proactive Health & Safety culture throughout the organisation.
About You

We're looking for someone who understands that good Health & Safety is about more than just paperwork and policies. You will be practical, approachable and confident working with engineers, customers and operational teams.

Ideally, you will have:

NEBOSH qualification.
IOSH qualification/membership.
Around 5 years' Health & Safety experience — although this is not essential for the right person.
Experience within plant hire, construction, aggregates, quarrying, civil engineering or a similar industry.
Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance.
Experience with risk assessments, RAMS, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
Experience working around heavy plant, machinery or engineering environments would be advantageous.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The confidence to liaise with clients, engineers, depot staff and management.
A practical and proactive approach to Health & Safety.
A full UK driving licence.
