Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional who isn't afraid to challenge, influence and drive standards on the factory floor?
We're looking for an established Health & Safety professional to join a fast-paced food manufacturing operation, playing a key role in strengthening safety standards, improving compliance and embedding a proactive safety culture across the site.
This isn't a role for someone looking to learn the ropes. You'll need to hit the ground running, bring solid manufacturing experience and have the confidence to hold managers and operational teams accountable.
The Role
Working closely with the site leadership team and wider HSE function, you'll be a visible presence across the factory, supporting departments to identify risks, improve working practices and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
You'll be responsible for:
Driving health and safety standards across the factory, maintaining a visible presence on the shop floor. Coaching and challenging managers, supervisors and operational teams to take ownership of safety within their departments. Conducting and reviewing risk assessments, ensuring appropriate procedures and controls are in place. Leading incident investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are followed through. Monitoring compliance, identifying gaps and driving improvements across site procedures and working practices. Supporting environmental compliance, including permits, consent agreements and engagement with external regulators. Working closely with operational, engineering, hygiene and technical teams to improve standards. Supporting the development and implementation of site-wide HSE procedures, systems and initiatives. About You
We're looking for someone with the experience and personality to make an immediate impact.
You'll ideally have:
At least 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety role. Previous experience within food manufacturing or a similar fast-paced manufacturing environment. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent. A strong understanding of risk assessments, incident investigations and H&S compliance. Experience working with operational teams and influencing managers at all levels. An understanding of environmental compliance and associated legislation. The confidence to challenge poor practices, push back when necessary and hold people accountable. You'll be resilient, proactive and comfortable dealing with resistance. You understand that improving safety isn't about doing everything yourself - it's about ensuring managers and departments take responsibility for their areas.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a business going through a period of change, where there is genuine scope to influence how health and safety is managed across the site.
You'll be joining at an important time, working alongside the site leadership team to strengthen procedures, uncover gaps in compliance and drive a more consistent approach to safety and environmental standards.
