Company: Fast Paced Manufacturing Company Vacancy: HSE Coordinator Salary: £35,000 per annum + Benefits Location: Lancaster
Seeking a proactive and positive, HSE coordinator to support the regional HSE Manager with day-to-day site activities on site. This will be a hands on, boots on the ground position, where you will be able to engage with the workforce and influence change. Working closely with different departments and the newly appointed senior leadership team, to help them evolve their safety culture to more of a proactive state. You will gain exposure to exciting site projects and share best practice across the wider group. This opportunity would suit a confident safety professional, able to work independently with guidance; who is looking to grow, develop and mature with the business. This position will be well supported and coached by HSE Manager and Head of HSE , as well as the wider team.
Vacancy Overview:
Assist in developing and updating health, safety and environment policies and procedures
Collaborate with departments to integrate health and safety requirements into daily operations.
Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and risks.
Analyse and assess risks associated with various tasks, equipment, and work processes.
Provide recommendations to mitigate identified risks and implement control measures.
Organise and deliver health and safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors – including Induction for new starters.
Develop informative materials and resources to enhance safety awareness and understanding.
Facilitate the reporting of incidents, accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
Lead or assist in investigations to determine the root causes of incidents and develop corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records of incidents and provide insights to prevent future occurrences.
Monitor compliance with relevant health, safety and environment regulations, codes, and standards.
Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess adherence to policies and procedures.
Collaborate with external agencies during regulatory inspections and maintain required documentation.
Coordinate and conduct emergency drills to ensure employees are familiar with proper procedures.
Maintain emergency equipment, supplies, and communication systems.
Compile and analyse health and safety data to identify trends, areas of improvement, and opportunities for proactive measures.
Generate regular reports and metrics for management review and decision-making.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement health and safety improvement initiatives.
Participate in safety committees and engage with employees to gather feedback and suggestions
Ideal background, experience, and qualifications:
NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety - Essential
NEBOSH Environment OR IEMA – Desirable
General manufacturing or logistics experience but ideally from a food, beverage, bakery, agriculture, paper or packaging manufacturing background
