Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

Are you an experienced Health, Safety, and Wellbeing professional looking to make your mark on a major new build and fit-out project? We are partnering with a leading international infrastructure group who are leading the transformation of our industry to meet the challenges of the future. They are seeking an exceptional Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor Advisor to drive their Zero Harm Journey Plan on a large defense project near Reading. This is initially a contract role running until 31/12/2026, but it serves as a fantastic Temp-to-Perm opportunity for the right individual.

The Details:

Role Title: Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

Location: Aldermaston, Reading

Rate: £55 per hour (£467.50 per day) Inside IR35, Umbrella

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (8.5-hour working day)

Start Date: ASAP

Security Clearance: BPSS clearance is required (the client will put you through this, which takes about 1 week, though holding it already is ideal)

Key Responsibilities:

Provide visible, active support and effective Health, Safety and Wellbeing advice to a large defense project featuring a major M&E fit-out

Support the HSW Manager in delivering HSW KPIs and fulfilling other functional duties to meet project requirements

Conduct site inspections and audit Health and Safety against the Management System to ensure compliance, and recommend any necessary corrective actions

Provide active support in promoting the Zero Harm Journey Plan and actively encourage safe behaviors among staff and sub-contractors

Liaise with Environmental and Quality auditors to ensure H&S is integrated with compliance and assurance, and manage external audits

Deliver health and safety inductions, training, and presentations, including Drugs & Alcohol testing

Assist in investigating and reporting on accidents and incidents, including undertaking causational analysis

What We're Looking For:

A NEBOSH or equivalent in safety management, or evidence of working towards relevant qualifications

Experience in a health and safety role, preferably within highway, major projects, or construction

Strong written and verbal communication, presentation skills, and a good understanding of staff management and motivation

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Word and Excel

An understanding of HSE Management Systems and experience delivering training across all staff levels
