Health, safety & Wellbeing Manager

Orion Group is supporting a a Tier 1 Construction & Infrastructure client to soiurce a Health , Safety & Wellbeing Manager to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of processes aimed at managing health, safety & well-being risks within a large joint venture infrastructureProject. 

As the HS&W Manager you will support the businesses ambition to be a safe and responsible company for their people, supply chain partners and the communities they serve.

You will interface with directly employed (Internal) and Supply Chain (External) Managers, Team Leads and Operatives in both an office and construction environments with a significant presence during night construction works.

This role will be principally engaged in:

·         Provide day to day management, guidance, support and mentoring to the other HSW advisors.
·         Being a visible champion for HSW throughout the project engaging with Operatives and Managers
·         Oversee the implementation of Organisational Standards relating to HSW at a local level providing feedbacking to the HSW Managers on any areas of improvement or potential conflict with business requirements
·         Monitor the delivery of the communications strategy to keep HSW on the operational delivery agenda and report back to the HSW Managers on the levels of effective communication
·         To support the delivery of appropriate and adequate HSW training based on Project needs
·         Support/ undertake targeted inspections of HSW management system and supply chain audits, tracking & supporting actions to close out
·         Managing own diary and stakeholder communications to plan, schedule and conduct inspections and HSW conversations with site & depot-based teams
·         To prepare and communicate timely reports and presentations detailing performance data on inspection findings, tracking & supporting actions to close out
·         To positively represent the Health, Safety & Well-being function and its strategy during conference calls and meetings
·         To review work activities against safety system of work taking appropriate action and providing documented advice where necessary
·         Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring incidents are dealt with effectively with actions tracked to close out

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA REQUIRED

Essential

Membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH)
Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
A current CSCS Card
Clean, full driving license
Experience managing a team of HSW Advisors
Utilise suite of Microsoft Office applications and digital platforms at an intermediate level to review data, identify themes and prepare representative graphsDesirable
·         Prior site-based construction experience in the UK
·         Knowledge and experience of working in a Highways construction / maintenance environment in the UK
·         Experience of working on a Joint Venture in the UK
