Job Description - Healthy Communities Coach - Casual - Gloucestershire

As a Healthy Communities Coach you will be delivering fun, inclusive, and high-quality sports and activity sessions for people of all ages and abilities, we are looking for someone who will bring energy, passion and creativity to every session.

You will also play a key role in supporting our Healthy Communities Manager and wider team in delivering our Healthy Communities Action Plan, helping to create lasting and positive changes within the local community.

This role will be based at your closest Freedom Leisure Centre.

Hours: Casual hours, as and when required

  • To plan, prepare and deliver high quality coaching sessions across the district.
  • To supervise and coach multi-sports and other sports to children and young people.
  • To ensure that coaching sessions are suitably planned and developed for all people including young children, those with specific additional needs.
  • To be responsible for volunteers and those attending the activity sessions.
  • To mentor other coaches, where appropriate, and provide advice and guidance in the planning and delivery of activities.
  • To ensure all sessions are safe and follow health and safety policies and procedures.
  • To maintain detailed and accurate records of those attending sessions.
  • To maintain current knowledge of the Governing Body and other relevant agencies programmes, policies, guidance and advice.
  • To be committed to continuous professional development (CPD) relevant to the post.
  • To support the Healthy Communities Manager in delivering Freedom’s Active Communities plan.

What are we looking for?

  • Level 1 or 2 certificate in coaching a sport, or another equivalent coaching course.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Safeguarding and Child protection.
  • Experience of coaching sports in schools, holiday camps, community clubs and/or on sports development initiatives over a number of years.
  • Experience coaching/ working with children and young people.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident session delivery considering safety and the needs of the participants.
  • Confident with evaluation of sessions.
  • Professionalism when dealing with any confidential matters or disclosures.

Salary: up to £18.11 per hour (depending on session/qualifications)
