We are seeking a skilled Gas Engineer to become an integral part of our Housing Maintenance & Development team. This role involves performing repairs, maintenance, and installation tasks across the Council's housing and corporate properties. The primary focus will be on gas installation, complemented by responsibilities in repairs, servicing, testing, inspections, and maintenance of void properties. Reporting to the Repairs Officer (Gas), you will ensure the delivery of top-notch services to residents while adhering to all relevant gas safety regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Execute gas installations, maintenance, servicing, and repairs in both occupied and vacant properties.
Conduct responsive, emergency, and planned maintenance tasks.
Perform testing, inspections, and necessary remedial work.
Ensure compliance with:
Gas Installation and Use Regulations 1998
Current gas safety legislation
Industry standards and procedures
Complete certifications, reports, and job documentation using mobile technology.
Order materials and identify additional work requirements.
Efficiently manage vehicle stock and materials.
Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good condition.
Follow health and safety policies, RAMS, and safe work systems.
Adhere to asbestos awareness procedures and training.
Provide excellent customer service while working in residents' homes.

Demonstrated experience in gas installations and repairs.
Background in housing maintenance environments.
Strong knowledge of gas safety legislation and regulations.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Awareness of health and safety practices.
Proficiency in using handheld/mobile devices for work documentation.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Willingness to join an out-of-hours call-out rota as needed.
Desirable
Completion of a time-served apprenticeship.
Experience in the social housing sector.
Additional qualifications in:
Oil
LPG
Renewables
Non-Domestic Gas
CAT B Asbestos Training
