Hedge Fund Alpha Capture (External Partnerships) - Retained Search, London

Octavius Finance has been mandated on an exclusive, retained assignment with a best-in-class, award winning hedge fund to hire into its buy-side alpha capture platform, primarily focused on external manager relationships.

This is a commercially critical role sitting between relationship management, manager origination and research, and investment insight. The role would suit someone who genuinely understands equity long/short investing and is well connected across the L/S PM landscape.

You’ll be central to broadening and strengthening the firm’s external manager universe, identifying differentiated high-calibre equity long/short portfolio managers, building long-term partnerships, and supporting the investment team in evaluating new contributors.

What you’ll be doing

• Proactively originating and building relationships with equity long/short PMs across established funds, boutique single-managers, spin-outs, and emerging platforms.
• Supporting qualitative and quantitative due diligence on prospective external managers
• Contributing to the ongoing enhancement of manager evaluation and due diligence frameworks
• Acting as a senior ambassador for the platform when engaging with external managers and investors
• Working closely with internal PMs and data scientists to turn insights into actionable investment opportunities

Role Requirements

• Background in Prime Brokerage (Manager Research, Capital Introductions, PB Sales) with exposure to L/S Equity funds and PMs.
• L/S Equity Allocators, HF/Alternatives Consultants, or HF Business Development professionals are also strongly encouraged to apply.
• Strong understanding of equity long/short strategies, fund structures, ideally with global reach.
• Credible, polished relationship-builder who can engage senior investment professionals with confidence.
• Commercially minded, entrepreneurial, and genuinely motivated by the buy-side investment process.
