HGV Class 1 Shunters

The Recruitment Crowd are currently recruiting Class 1 Shunters to join EVRi Barnsley.

Shifts: 6pm-6am OR 6am-6pm, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern

Location: Barnsley, s74

Job Type: Ongoing position.

Pay rates:
Days: Week day £17.21, Saturday £18.87, Sunday £19.20
Nights: Week nights £18.59, Saturday £21.69, Sunday, £22.96

The role:

· Perform non-stop shunting of trailers within the yard to ensure efficient operations, averaging 150 shunts a shift.

· Safely manoeuvre vehicles in tight and busy spaces.

· Conduct pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections to ensure safety and reliability.

· Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures.

· Coordinate with the yard and dispatch teams to maintain seamless workflow.

· Report any defects or issues promptly to the maintenance team.

· Maintain accurate records of shunting activities and vehicle movements.

· Assist with other yard duties as needed.

Requirements:

· Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).

· Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.

· No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).

· Successful completion of assessment, including theory element which is two questionnaires based on drivers' hours and road laws and a practical element which will be based on yard reversing and a short driving test.

· Full understanding of WTD legislation.

· Excellent communication skills.

· A safety-first mindset.
