HGV Driver – Class 1

The Role

Our work consists of ferry trailer operations, including curtainsiders, reefers and containers, transporting goods from UK ports and depots, with deliveries and collections throughout the UK.

Please note: This is a TRAMPING role. Variable nights out in the vehicle are required. Night-out payments and meal allowances apply.

Please DO NOT apply if you are unable to stay overnight in the vehicle.

We operate MAN, VOLVO and IVECO vehicles, including some new Volvo BEV vehicles, all fully maintained by locally approved dealers.

What Will You Be Doing?

*

Loading and transferring cargo onto vehicles, ensuring it is stored, packed and secured in accordance with specified instructions and customer requirements, without causing damage.

*

Ensuring cargo is safely and securely packed and arranged within the vehicle.

*

Unloading cargo safely, ensuring no damage occurs and that customer requirements are met.

*

Completing all required documentation and paperwork in accordance with company procedures and statutory requirements.

*

Complying with all legislation and requirements relating to different cargo types, particularly hazardous cargo.

*

Maintaining communication with the office or designated locations, particularly when reporting delays or operational issues.

*

Carrying out vehicle checks in accordance with company and statutory requirements, reporting any faults to the supervisor or operator.

*

Operating vehicles legally, safely, responsibly and considerately.

*

Ensuring all driver documentation, including tachograph records, is completed in accordance with company and statutory requirements.

*

Maintaining legislative compliance in all areas, including Working Time Directive and Drivers' Hours regulations.

*

Ensuring that all agreed operational procedures and statutory requirements are followed, including the provision and maintenance of a safe working environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Previous experience in a similar role.

*

A valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence.

*

A maximum of 6 penalty points.

*

No DD, DR, DG or IN endorsements.

*

A valid Driver Tachograph Card (Digicard).

*

A valid Driver CPC qualification.

*

A good understanding of EU Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
