We're looking for an enthusiastic HGV Technician Improver / Trainee HGV Technician to join an experienced workshop team. You'll initially focus on routine maintenance and basic mechanical repairs, working alongside skilled HGV Technicians who can help you develop your knowledge and technical ability.
 
This role is ideal for someone with an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent automotive qualification who has the right attitude, practical ability, and ambition to progress their career.

The Role
As an HGV Technician Improver, you'll support the workshop team with routine servicing, maintenance, and basic mechanical repairs while developing your skills and experience.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
·Carrying out routine servicing and scheduled maintenance on HGVs and commercial vehicles
·Completing basic mechanical repairs and component replacements
·Assisting experienced HGV Technicians with larger repair jobs
·Carrying out vehicle inspections and basic safety checks
·Supporting preventative maintenance work
·Identifying obvious defects and reporting them to senior technicians
·Working safely and following workshop procedures
·Maintaining accurate job records and workshop documentation
·Keeping your work area, tools, and equipment clean and organised
 
You will not be expected to carry out advanced diagnostics at this stage. The focus of this position is developing your practical mechanical skills and building your experience under the guidance of experienced technicians.
 
About You
We're looking for someone who is motivated to learn and wants to build a long-term career within commercial vehicle maintenance.
 
You will ideally have:
·NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, HGV Maintenance, or equivalent
·Some previous hands-on mechanical or workshop experience
·Basic knowledge of vehicle servicing and mechanical repairs
·A genuine interest in HGVs and commercial vehicles
·A willingness to learn from experienced technicians
·A positive attitude and strong work ethic
·Good attention to detail
·The ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team
·A desire to develop your skills and progress into a fully skilled HGV Technician
