A leading operator within the transport and logistics sector is seeking an experienced and motivated HGV & Trailer Technician to join its workshop team in Widnes. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking to develop their expertise within a fast-paced environment, maintaining a modern fleet of Walking Floor trailers and HGV vehicles to the highest safety and compliance standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring fleet reliability, safety, and compliance through planned maintenance, repairs, inspections, and breakdown support.
Working Hours
Monday: 07:00 – 16:30 Tuesday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:30 Alternate Saturdays: 07:00 – 12:30 (paid at time and a half) Salary & Benefits

Essential:
Previous experience within HGV or trailer mechanic role Strong understanding of workshop maintenance systems and procedures. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Competent using Microsoft Word, Excel, and tablet-based systems. Desirable
IRTEC qualification Previous experience maintaining Walking Floor trailers and HGV vehicles. Holder of a valid C1+E driving licence. Duties and Responsibilities;
Carry out vehicle and trailer safety inspections, servicing, defect diagnosis, repairs, and MOT preparation. Provide breakdown support and fault rectification when required. Maintain vehicle ancillaries and specialist body applications. Assist with mobile and fixed plant maintenance as required. Accurately record maintenance activities and ensure compliance documentation is completed. Update fleet management systems with defect rectification and repair information. Liaise effectively with operational teams regarding vehicle downtime and repair progress. Support asset onboarding, decommissioning, refurbishment, and improvement projects. Ensure fleet compliance with DVSA regulations and Operator's Licence requirements. Prepare trailers for MOT testing and carry out refurbishment works, including floor replacements. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment in line with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and Health & Safety procedures.
