Job Description - HGV Technician

HGV Fitter/ Commercial Body Technician
Location: Lowestoft
Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Friday: 7:00 AM – 1:15 PM

Are you a skilled HGV Fitter or Commercial Bodyshop Technician looking for your next career move? Our client, a well-established commercial bodyshop in Lowestoft, is expanding their team and is on the lookout for a hands-on, technically-minded professional to help build and fit out high-spec HGV trucks and trailers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving workshop with a strong reputation for quality workmanship and a focus on innovation. If you're passionate about mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems — we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

Assembling and fitting new HGV truck and trailer bodies to exact specifications
Installing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (tail lifts, power packs, lighting, braking systems)
Wiring looms, lighting units, switches, and connectors
Fabricating components and fitting ancillary equipment
Conducting brake system leak tests and functional checks
Diagnosing and resolving build-stage defects
Working from technical drawings and build plans
Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and cleanliness

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience in HGV fitting, commercial vehicle body building, or a related field
Strong working knowledge of vehicle systems: mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic
Competency with hand/power tools and workshop equipment
NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Body Building or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
A team player with great attention to detail and a proactive approach
Health and safety awareness in workshop/bodyshop settings
