Stakeholder & Public Liaison Officer - £40,000 DOE | Guisborough | Fixed Term (12 Months)
Be the voice of a major civil engineering project and make a real difference to local communities.
My client is looking for a Stakeholder & Public Liaison Officer to join their Civils division on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong customer service, communications or stakeholder engagement background who enjoys building positive relationships and making a genuine impact.
As a Stakeholder & Public Liaason Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring members of the public, local businesses and project stakeholders receive clear, professional and timely communication throughout the delivery of major infrastructure projects.

My client is a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure schemes across the North East, Tees Valley, Yorkshire and the Humber. Their portfolio includes highways, public realm, flood alleviation, bridge works and active travel projects delivered in partnership with local authorities and public sector clients.

What you'll be doing
As a Stakeholder & Public Liaason Officer, you will be responsible for acting as the main point of contact between the project team, local communities and key stakeholders. You will be:
·Managing the dedicated project email inbox and responding promptly to enquiries, compliments and complaints.
·Recording all stakeholder interactions accurately on project logs.
·Supporting the efficient management of insurance claims in line with company procedures.
·Recording complaints and incidents while providing feedback to project teams to help improve future performance.
·Arranging visits with residents, businesses and stakeholders affected by construction activities.
·Acting as the first point of contact within the project visitor centre or site office during opening hours where applicable.
·Organising and supporting visitor centre events for schools, universities and industry groups.
·Preparing weekly and monthly stakeholder communication reports.
·Attending project progress meetings and providing updates on stakeholder engagement.
·Working closely with the Corporate Communications team to coordinate project website updates.
·Supporting site teams with guidance on effective stakeholder communication and conflict resolution.
·Assisting with PR, community engagement and social value events.
·Supporting wider corporate communications activities when required.
·Maintaining high standards of health and safety, safeguarding and GDPR compliance.
·Taking part in training, development opportunities and performance reviews.
What we're looking for
To be successful as a Stakeholder & Public Liaason Officer, you should have:
·A full UK driving licence.
·At least two years' experience within a customer service or administrative environment.
·Strong written and verbal communication skills.
·Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office packages.
·Excellent organisational and time management skills.
·A proactive approach with the ability to work independently.
·Confidence when dealing with challenging situations and resolving conflict.
·A professional, approachable and customer-focused manner.
·High attention to detail.
Desirable experience includes:
·Updating customer service websites.
·Using social media platforms professionally.
·Communications, PR or marketing experience.
·A relevant qualification.
·Knowledge or experience of the construction sector.
Salary and benefits
·Salary: £40,000 per annum dependent on experience
