Job Title: Developing Highways Senior Engineer
Job Type: 6 month rolling contract
Location: Shrewsbury
Rate of pay: Paye £36.10ph  Umbrella £50PH

We’re working with a forward-thinking Local Authority who are looking to appoint a Developing Highways Senior Engineer to support the delivery of growth and infrastructure across the county.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in reviewing and approving highways works linked to new developments, ensuring schemes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with standards.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

Managing S38 & S278 agreements from application through to completion
Reviewing and approving developer-led highway designs
Negotiating with developers, consultants, and stakeholders
Providing technical advice on planning applications
Overseeing site inspections and supporting road adoption

About You

We’re keen to speak with candidates who have:

Experience in highways or civil engineering (Local Authority or consultancy)
Strong knowledge of S38 / S278 agreements
Experience reviewing or producing highway designs
Confidence dealing with developers and stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
