Hire Manager

Berry Recruitment are recruiting for a Hire Manager to support a successful client in Bury St Edmunds.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Hire Desk and Transport function within the depot. You will lead, motivate, and develop a team of Hire & Sales Co-ordinators and Drivers, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations while driving revenue growth and maintaining high standards of compliance and administration.

Your duties will include:

· Leading and managing the day-to-day operation of the Hire Desk and Transport function.

· Allocating, prioritising, and monitoring workloads for Hire & Sales Co-ordinators and Drivers.

· Recruiting, motivating, coaching, and developing team members.

· Ensuring adequate staffing cover, including managing holidays, absence, and weekend attendance.

· Overseeing stock control of consumables and resale items, ensuring availability and re-ordering where required.

· Monitoring transport performance to ensure deliveries and collections meet agreed customer timescales.

· Maintaining high standards of hire desk administration, minimising manual paperwork and ensuring system accuracy.

Key Skills Required:

· Experience managing a hire desk, transport operation, or similar customer-facing operational team.

· A focus on revenue growth and add-on sales.

· Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

· Strong communication skills with staff, customers, and stakeholders at all levels.

· Good understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities within an operational environment.

Hours: Monday to Friday. 7:30am until 4:30pm.

Salary: Between £33,000 and £35,000 per annum.
