Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (Depending on Experience)

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-5:00pm; Friday, 7:30am-6:00pm

Introduction

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Hire Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of their busy plant and tool hire department in Abingdon. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing hire operations, coordinating staff and equipment, developing customer relationships and ensuring the department operates efficiently and profitably. This is an excellent opportunity for an established hire professional to take ownership of a department, drive commercial growth and play a key role in the continued success of the business.

Overview

Manage the day-to-day running of the hire desk, dealing with trade and retail customer enquiries.
Oversee hire bookings, off-hires, customer agreements and cash and account payments.
Coordinate equipment deliveries, collections and transport schedules.
Monitor plant and tool fleet availability, maintenance and safety standards.
Manage staff workloads, rotas, holidays and sickness cover.
Monitor departmental performance, including profit and loss, costs and profitability.
Develop existing customer relationships, generate new business and increase hire revenue.
Oversee garden tool sales and identify opportunities to grow this area of the business.
Work closely with workshop technicians to ensure equipment is maintained and ready for hire.Requirements

Previous experience within Plant, Tool, Groundcare or Construction Equipment Hire.
Strong understanding of hire desk operations, equipment and transport logistics.
Previous supervisory or management experience is highly desirable.
Commercially minded, with an understanding of sales, costs and departmental profitability.
Excellent customer service, communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Confident using hire management systems and processing customer payments.
A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to lead and motivate a team.Salary & Benefits
