Job Description - Home Based Counsellor

📍UK Remote

Does this sound like you?

You’re a psychological care clinician looking to embed yourself in an organisation that can support you and help you grow, both personally and professionally. You’d love to feel encouraged and appreciated from day one, with a comprehensive onboarding experience and training for your role.

Day to day you’ll benefit from one-to-one clinical and peer supervision and case management alongside a monthly programme to enable your continuous professional development.

It’s important to you that the company you’re part of is impactful and solves real-world problems. You’re looking for an opportunity to be highly visible and absolutely integral to the growth and success of the business.

What you’ll be doing (in a nutshell):

As a member of our EAP team, you’ll provide a 24/7 confidential support service via telephone, virtual and face to face counselling and support, for issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, debt advice and family issues.

In your role, you’ll utilise technology to stay connected to the team environment, but also engage with home-based working, delivering structured counselling to employees across public and private sector organisations.

Day-to-day you can expect to:

  • Deliver short-term counselling via telephone, video or in-person (if appropriate)
  • Conduct clinical assessments and manage risk in line with NICE guidelines
  • Support clients using a range of therapeutic techniques and psychoeducation
  • Offer timely signposting to appropriate services or agencies
  • Provide advice to line managers or HR teams when required
  • Manage cases within our computerised CBT (CCBT) programmes
  • Handle occasional elevated risk or on-call scenarios (up to 3 times per year)
  • Contribute to continuous clinical improvement and innovation in EAP delivery

To be successful, you'll have:

  • A minimum Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and/or Psychotherapy
  • At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Registration or accreditation with BACP (or equivalent professional body) – this is essential
  • Experience delivering counselling via telephone and/or virtual platforms
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced clinical environment with diverse client needs
  • A trauma-informed approach and understanding of short-term therapy models
  • High levels of organisation, professionalism, and digital literacy
  • An enhanced DBS certificate (we can arrange this if needed)

Please note, all applicants must be legally entitled to accept and perform work in the UK and all positions are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
