We are seeking a dedicated Homelessness Advisor to join our dynamic Housing Operations team for a temporary three-month period. This role is pivotal in executing the Council's legal responsibilities concerning homelessness as outlined in Part VII of the Housing Act 1996. The successful candidate will provide top-tier housing advice, work on homelessness prevention, and offer support to individuals facing housing insecurity. This position is ideal for those with a background in housing options or homelessness who are committed to fostering positive outcomes and reducing homelessness.
Responsibilities
Deliver in-person housing advice to individuals with housing challenges.
Implement strategies to prevent and alleviate homelessness in accordance with current laws and best practices.
Conduct thorough assessments of homelessness and housing needs.
Create individualized housing plans based on specific client situations.
Offer written guidance to clients experiencing housing issues.
Maintain precise case records using housing management software.
Negotiate with landlords and housing providers to achieve favorable housing solutions.

Resettlement Support
Legal Housing Remedies
Collaborate closely with both statutory and voluntary sector partners.
Participate in multi-agency meetings and court proceedings as necessary.
Contribute to service improvements and promote best practices within the team.
Assist in preparing reports and case updates for senior management.
Handle inquiries, complaints, and customer escalations efficiently.
Fulfill safeguarding duties for children and vulnerable adults.

Requirements:
Proven experience in Housing Options, Homelessness, Housing Advice, or related services.
Familiarity with homelessness legislation, particularly Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
Experience in conducting housing assessments and developing support plans.
Ability to manage housing-related caseloads effectively.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Competence in negotiating favorable housing outcomes.
Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
Experience working with vulnerable populations.
Capability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Understanding of welfare benefits and housing support services.

Experience with Local Authority homelessness services.
Familiarity with the Homelessness Reduction Act for preventing and relieving homelessness.
