Manager, you will be able to ensure standards of quality, service and merchandising are achieved. By doing this our client knows that the department will exceed the expectations of all customers. Being part of the Garden Centre Management team taking the responsibility for the unlocking, securing and safe running of the site in line with Company Procedures as Duty Manager. You will work closely with the leadership team and be an active voice and presence in the centres ongoing success and growth. Key Accountabilities as the Horticulture Manager/Buyer: Be responsible for a proactive plant buying strategy for the centre Aim to be able to buy the best products to attract customers Able to support the development of the team in the plant and outdoor areas. Manages consistency of plant standards and procedures at the Garden Centre and provides guidance to the team. Responsible for setting the range of plants and plant suppliers throughout the Garden Centre and communicating this to the Garden Centre Manager. Source high quality plants at the best prices to inspire our customers through a continually changing range of innovative offers and creative displays. Constantly monitor and review the achievement of set targets and through planning and control of budgets, stock and losses maximizes commercial potential. What we want in a Horticulture Buyer/Horticulture Manager: Understand trends and metrics to range product in line with customers' expectations. Manage and develop supplier relationships to ensure stock and cash management. Analyse consumer buying patterns and predict future trends. Working with the merchandising team, manage plans for stock levels. Regularly review performance indicators, such as sales, sell through, promotions and stock levels. Meet suppliers, negotiate, and agree terms of contracts. Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products. Attend trade fairs to select and assemble new collection of products. Present new ranges to the Management Team. Ideal candidate The ideal candidate will have a strong Garden centre or Garden Nursery background with proven supervisor qualities and a passion for plants & for driving sales. You will have great knowledge of the retail and Horticultural world as you will be responsible for everything that happens within the Horticultural part of the Garden centre.
