Hotel Cleanliness Expert - Public Area Attendant - London Marriott Hotel Canary Wharf

JOB SUMMARY 

To ensure all public areas of the hotel are maintained, cleaned, and presented to the highest standard, providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and associates. 

SCOPE / BUSINESS CONTEXT

 A Full-Time position based at the London Marriott Hotel Canary Wharf and Executive Apartments.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 Experience 

Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, or a related field preferred. 

Skills and Knowledge 

• Good communication skills (verbal and listening) 

• Reliable and trustworthy 

• Able to work independently and as part of a team 

• Attention to detail 

• Customer-focused approach

Education or Certification 

• Good level of English essential 

SPECIFIC DUTIES 

• Smile, meet, and greet guests and associates in a professional and courteous manner. 

• Report to work ensuring appearance and presentation meet the required company standards.

• Collect daily assignments, equipment, and supplies from the Housekeeping office at the start of the shift. 

• Clean and maintain all public areas including lobby, reception, lounges, corridors, elevators, meeting spaces, public restrooms, fitness centre, and back-of-house areas. 

• Ensure all public areas remain clean, tidy, and free of litter throughout the shift. 

• Regularly inspect public restrooms, replenishing supplies such as soap, tissue, hand towels, and amenities as required. 

• Vacuum, mop, dust, polish, and sanitize assigned areas in accordance with company and brand standards. 

• Respond promptly to cleaning requests from guests, associates, and management. 

• Report any maintenance issues, damage, or cleanliness concerns to the Supervisor immediately. 

• Ensure all cleaning equipment and chemicals are used safely and in accordance with Health and Safety procedures. 

• Maintain housekeeping storage rooms and service areas in a clean, organized condition. 

• Remove room service trays, glassware, and other items left in public areas and arrange for collection as required.

 • Assist with deep-cleaning projects and special cleaning assignments as directed.

• Ensure all areas are presented to Marriott brand standards at all times. 

• Be familiar with Brand Standard SOPs and departmental procedures. 

MAINTENANCE AND SECURITY 

• Ensure lost property found in public areas is handled in accordance with the Lost & Found procedure. 

• Ensure the safe use, storage, and return of all equipment and keys issued. 

• Report immediately any concerns relating to guest safety or hotel security to the appropriate department. 

• Report suspicious persons or activities to the Supervisor without delay.

• Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe working order and report faults promptly. 

• Report Health and Safety hazards immediately. 

• Comply with established standards of behaviour, discipline, and appearance within the hotel. 

• Comply with all Health, Safety, Hygiene, Fire, and Emergency procedures. 

• Comply with all environmental and sustainability procedures within the hotel. 

OTHER 

• Perform other related duties as assigned by management. 

• Comply with Marriott International policies and procedures. 

• Work hours as required to perform the duties of the position, normally not less than 40 hours per week.
