Job Description - Housekeeper

Job Title: Housekeeper
Location: Standlake, Oxford
Salary: £24,375 (Full time)
Job type: Permanent, full time

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours a day)

Shift Patterns: Between 06:00am and 06:30pm Monday to Friday

About the role

This isn’t your average Housekeeper role. It’s an opportunity to be part of The Mulberry Bush’s extraordinary story as you start a new chapter in your career.

As a Housekeeper here, you'll make our houses feel like home for both our care staff and the children we support. As well as keeping on top of cleaning, you’ll contribute to the seamless running of our houses, and build strong relationships with your colleagues and the children. As you develop your understanding of the children’s complex needs, you’ll become a positive role model – playing your part in helping them rewrite their stories.

We'll look to you to:

  • Take on all sorts of tasks to keep our houses feeling homely – from vacuuming and polishing to responding to reactive cleaning requests.

  • Build positive relationships with colleagues and children in our care.

  • Become part of the daily life of the house and wider community.

  • Participate in regular team meetings and supervision.

  • Undertake cleaning duties in other areas on-site, including education spaces, offices and communal areas.

  • Follow the Mulberry Bush School’s policies and procedures, always prioritising the safety and well-being of the children.

  • Take a proactive role in the safeguarding of our children.

We'll care for you too

You're not just part of a team, you're part of our family. Support echoes through every part of our community, and your colleagues are always here to lend a hand or share a smile. We also offer the following benefits to make your journey with us even more rewarding:

  • 40 days annual leave per year (if part-time pro rata).

  • A comprehensive range of informal and formal wellbeing support.

  • Employer contribution pension of 6%.

  • Enhanced parental leave benefits.

  • Subsidised meals.

About you

Not only are you passionate about creating warm and welcoming environments, you’re also an excellent communicator. Whether you’re working as part of a team or independently, we can count on you to always deliver quality work. This is a physically demanding role that requires you to respond to reactive requests – so you’ll need to be flexible, adaptable and resilient. If you’ve worked in a similar setting before, that’s great, but it’s not essential.

About the Mulberry Bush

We see their untold stories, possibilities, dreams, and untapped potential – and we believe in their ability to rewrite their destiny. All while having lots of fun along the way.
