Housing Benefit Subsidy Officer / Team Leader

Experienced in Housing Benefit subsidy and benefits administration, with strong working knowledge of Housing Benefit regulations, subsidy requirements and local authority processes. Proficient in Academy and/or NEC Revenues and Benefits systems, with the ability to interrogate claims, identify subsidy issues and ensure cases are correctly classified and recorded.

Skilled in reviewing subsidy-related cases, subsidy cells and exception reports, identifying errors and discrepancies that could affect the authority's subsidy claim. Experienced in checking areas including overpayments, backdated awards, supported/exempt accommodation, temporary accommodation and other high-risk subsidy classifications.

Able to carry out subsidy testing and quality assurance, analyse system reports, investigate anomalies and work with assessment teams to correct errors and improve subsidy accuracy. Confident supporting preparation for year-end subsidy claims and external audit, providing evidence and responding to audit queries where required.

As a Team Leader, experienced in allocating and monitoring workloads, providing technical guidance to Benefits Officers, checking performance and quality, resolving complex Housing Benefit cases and ensuring deadlines and subsidy targets are achieved. Comfortable liaising with senior management, auditors and other council teams and producing clear updates on risks, errors and corrective actions.
