Salary: Starting Salary is £32,597 (Level one) rising to £35,412 per annum (pro rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Housing Casework Officer to join our Housing Solutions service. In this important frontline role, you will provide high-quality housing advice, support homelessness prevention and carry out statutory assessments for citizens who are homeless, threatened with homelessness or experiencing housing difficulties. You will work with citizens, landlords, partner agencies and support services to identify practical housing solutions, help people sustain or secure accommodation, and ensure the Council meets its legal and safeguarding responsibilities. The role requires strong casework, communication and negotiation skills, a good understanding of housing and homelessness legislation, and a commitment to delivering positive outcomes for citizens through a fair, inclusive and responsive service

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

·         Good operational working knowledge of Homelessness and associated legislation and an ability to advise on and decide any duties owed to citizens for the Authority 

·         Good operational working knowledge of housing legislation in both the public and private sector 

·         An ability to communicate complex issues on a face to face basis, demonstrating tact, diplomacy, sensitivity and customer care

·         An ability to effectively manage a complex workload under pressure meeting specified targets and deadlines whilst demonstrating attention to detail, prioritisation and self-organisation skills

·         A commitment to providing a high quality customer focussed service   

·         An ability to work successfully in partnership across different sectors, building and maintaining good working relationships 

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
