Housing Enforcement Assistant – Career Grade 5–6

Start your career in Housing Enforcement and help improve standards in Croydon’s private rented homes.

The role

Join our Private Sector Housing Team and develop a career in property licensing and housing enforcement.

You’ll support our work on Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), property licensing and enforcement, helping to process licence applications and fees, respond to enquiries, maintain accurate information and gather information about privately rented properties.

You’ll also support Housing Enforcement and Environmental Health Officers and, as your knowledge develops, gain experience of investigative work and managing a small caseload of unlicensed properties and other Private Sector Housing enquiries.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need previous Housing or enforcement experience to join us at the entry level.

We’re looking for someone who can bring:

• Experience of customer service or dealing with enquiries, whether with the public, colleagues or other organisations. 
• Experience of organising work, handling information and keeping accurate records. 
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills, with confidence working with information and figures. 
• Good digital skills and the ability to learn new systems. 
• The ability to prioritise, follow procedures and pay attention to detail. 
• Initiative, problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with others. 
• An interest in developing your knowledge of Private Sector Housing, property licensing and housing enforcement.
