Housing Officer – Plymouth & South Hams

Location: Plymouth & South Hams, Devon
Pay: £20.75 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday–Friday
Contract: 1 month initially – potentially longer
Interviews: ASAP
Basic DBS required

We are recruiting for an experienced Housing Officer to provide frontline housing and neighbourhood management across a Plymouth and South Hams patch.

This is a field-based role and an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong social housing, tenancy and estate management background who can hit the ground running.

The Role

Manage a geographical housing patch and act as the main point of contact for residents
Handle tenancy enquiries, permissions and general housing management
Carry out tenancy sign-ups and property viewings
Manage tenancy breaches and take appropriate action
Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns
Carry out estate inspections and maintain high neighbourhood standards
Work with internal teams, contractors and external agencies
Support resident engagement and community development
Help maintain sustainable tenancies and safe, welcoming communities
Support housing activity relating to new developments where required
What We're Looking For

Previous social housing experience
Strong knowledge of tenancy, estate and neighbourhood management
CIH Level 4 qualification or willingness to work towards it
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Confident managing a busy and varied caseload
Strong organisation and ability to prioritise
Full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle
Ability to pass a Basic DBS check
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the assignment.
