Pay Rate: £25.71 per hour Umbrella
Contract Type: Temporary / Contract
Working Pattern: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Housing Allocations & Homelessness Officer to join a busy local authority housing service in Ilford.

The successful candidate will assess housing register applications, determine priority and eligibility, allocate social housing and provide comprehensive housing advice to vulnerable households. You will also support homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation placements and the discharge of homelessness duties.

Key Responsibilities

* Assess housing register applications, reviews and changes in circumstances.

* Determine eligibility, effective dates, priority and medical needs.

* Allocate properties through choice-based lettings and direct matching.

* Manage temporary accommodation, prevention and PRSO placements.

* Provide housing options and homelessness prevention advice.

* Work with vulnerable households and partner agencies to achieve sustainable housing solutions.

* Complete verification checks, interviews and home visits where required.

* Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with legislation and council policies.

* Work with Registered Providers, health services, social care and other agencies.

* Monitor performance and ensure key housing and homelessness targets are achieved.

About You

You will have experience in housing allocations, homelessness, housing options or local authority housing, with strong knowledge of Part VI of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Excellent communication, case management and decision-making skills are essential, along with experience supporting vulnerable customers and managing complex housing cases.
