Position Summary

HR and HSSE Manager

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a proactive, experienced HR Manager with a solid understanding of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) practices to support the UK head office and multiple European sites. This role combines strategic HR leadership with a hands-on approach to people management, policy implementation, and health & safety best practices.

The successful candidate will spend approximately 70% of their time at the Sittingbourne office and 30% travelling across European sites.

HR and HSSE Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted HR advisor to UK and European site managers, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
• Implement and maintain HR policies and procedures across the group to ensure consistency and legal compliance in all jurisdictions.
• Partner with local HSSE teams to integrate health and safety awareness into HR practices and culture.
• Support incident reporting processes, return-to-work programs, and promote a safety-first mindset across all operations.
• Manage full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, and exit processes.
• Collaborate with senior management on organisational development, workforce planning, and succession planning initiatives.
• Lead or contribute to pan-European HR projects and policy standardisation efforts.
• Travel to sites across Europe to provide on-the-ground HR support, conduct audits, and ensure HR and HSSE alignment.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws across all relevant countries.
• Provide reporting and insights to leadership on HR and HSSE-related KPIs.

HR and HSSE Manager

Required Experience & Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in an HR generalist or HR business partner role, preferably in a manufacturing, logistics, or industrial setting.
• Demonstrable understanding of HSSE standards and practices within a corporate or operational environment.
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law; familiarity with European HR practices is a plus.
• French language skills are highly desirable.
• Experience working in a multi-site or international organisation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
• Willingness and ability to travel across Europe.

Desirable Qualifications

• CIPD Level 5 or above.
• NEBOSH Certificate or other relevant HSSE qualification.
