We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused HR Assistant to join our dynamic People & Payroll team. This role is crucial in supporting Children's Services across multiple local authorities. As an HR Assistant, you will provide comprehensive recruitment and HR administration support, ensuring a seamless experience for managers, candidates, and employees throughout the employee lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include recruitment administration, onboarding, compliance checks, DBS processing, HR systems management, and addressing a variety of HR and recruitment inquiries.
Responsibilities
Support the entire recruitment lifecycle from job advertisement to onboarding.
Review and ensure the quality of job adverts and descriptions.
Post vacancies and manage recruitment systems efficiently.
Conduct pre-employment checks, including references, right to work, and DBS applications.
Facilitate onboarding, contract generation, and new starter administration.
Manage HR and recruitment inboxes, responding promptly to inquiries.
Provide first-line HR and recruitment advice to managers and employees.
Process contract amendments, probation checks, absence queries, and leaver administration.
Maintain accurate employee records and HR system data.
Support vacancy reporting and recruitment metrics analysis.
Liaise with candidates, managers, agencies, and external stakeholders.
Assist with compliance activities and DBS renewals.
Train managers on HR and recruitment systems.

Requirements
Requirements:
Previous experience in HR Administration, Recruitment Administration, or a similar HR support role.
Experience in supporting recruitment and onboarding processes.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to manage high-volume administrative workloads.
Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel.
Experience in maintaining confidential employee records.
Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively.
Desirable
Experience in Local Authority or Public Sector.
Familiarity with HR and recruitment systems.
Experience in processing DBS checks and compliance documentation.
Understanding of HR policies, procedures, and employment processes.
Experience working with agency recruitment providers.
